Frequently asked questions
about our power failure alarm.

Power failure alarms are best used in business settings where continuous power supply is essential. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Telecommunications: Secure constant power and maintain network connectivity at cellular towers and communication hubs.
  • Security systems: Integrate your security system with power failure alarms to reinforce security at your business premises.
  • Healthcare facilities: Power failure alarms enable you to activate backup generators for life-saving equipment and keep refrigerated medication and tests protected.
  • Offices and commercial buildings: Prevent data loss and disruptions to business operations with power failure alarms in data centres, server rooms and critical facilities that require continuous power supply.
  • Refrigerated warehouse and storage: Avoid loss of refrigerated stock with early notifications of power failures enabling swift transition to backup power sources.
  • Manufacturing and industrial settings: Minimise downtime and avoid production losses in manufacturing plants and industrial facilities with timely alerts.
With Tekview’s power failure alarm, you’ll get an immediate alert sent straight to your phone as soon as your mains power supply fails. Rather than calling out an engineer in the middle of the night, travelling to a remote site or having to wait until the next working day, you can immediately troubleshoot your business critical devices via text message. For many power failures, turning it off and on again is all it needs to fix the issue. Being able to do this at the touch of a button not only saves time travelling to remote sites, but it also minimises the downtime of your business operations.

Our power failure alarm is incredibly easy to use and doesn’t require any technical set up. All you need to do is make sure the text-only SIM card is inserted into the device and plug it into a wall socket. Once plugged in and switched on, Powertxt® will send you a text message if the power supply fails. Simply plug in the device or appliance you want to remotely monitor and rest assured that you’ll be informed via text message should the power fail.

No. Powertxt® is 100% cellular, meaning it works over the mobile network (GSM). When the power goes out, so does your internet connection, making GSM the most reliable network for receiving notifications. Alternatively, the Powertxt® IP Switch monitors internet connection and will automatically reboot your router to keep you online.

No – as long as you can send and receive text messages, any cellular phone will work! For a small, monthly cost you can also manage your Powertxt® devices through our online portal, EstateView. This is particularly handy if you have a large number of devices you’d like to control and if you’d like to set up additional users.
