To set up the Powertxt® power interrupter alarm, make sure the SIM card is inserted, plug it into the mains power and plug your device into the socket. You can then send a text to Powertxt® to control your equipment and Powertxt® will reply confirming any action. You’ll also receive real-time notifications to your mobile device in the event of a power failure.

You’re welcome to use your own text-only SIM card in your power interrupter alarm. However, we’re able to provide these at a much lower cost than you’ll find going directly through a network provider. Find out more about our SIM card options here.

No. Powertxt® works over the mobile network (GSM), which means you won’t need to connect to the internet. During a power outage, your WiFi will also go down, which makes GSM a more reliable network for receiving notifications.
Any phone that can send or receive text messages (SMS) will work. There’s no need to invest in a smartphone that connects to the internet as the power interrupter alarm is 100% cellular.
