What is Envirotxt ®?

Envirotxt is a plug-in sensor that monitors power outages & temperature. Envirotxt uses a SIM card to send real time text message alerts over the GSM (mobile) network. Envirotxt is simple to install and very easy to use, just plug it in and send it a text message .. it’s as easy as that! Envirotxt will send a text message alert straight to your mobile phone as soon as there is a power cut or when the temperature gets too low/too high.

All the temperature thresholds are user-programmable so you can decide what temperature triggers a text message alert and up to 5 users can receive alerts. Envirotxt is a completely wireless remote sensor, it only requires mains power and a SIM card to operate. Envirotxt has many features including a rapid temperature rise alert (see ‘key features’ on the left) and the text message control and responses are so simple it can be used by anyone (technical or not!). Note - Envirotxt uses ‘capacitance’ to store energy to send the power loss alerts, it has no dangerous lithium batteries inside.

Envirotxt has an internal temperature sensor and also a 1m external temperature sensor for monitoring more specific areas (both temperature sensors can send alerts).

Who Uses Envirotxt ®?

Envirotxt is used in many industries and applications for example Second Homes/Holiday Homes, Hydroponics & Aquatics, Utilities, Healthcare, Marine, Pharmaceuticals and other industries. It can be used for power loss of fridges/freezers, monitoring temperature of perishables, looking after the elderly in winter, monitoring the power of any critical equipment, temperature and power monitoring of IT/Comms equipment, monitoring power and temperature in second homes or holiday homes, power loss for marine & aquatics and as temperature & power loss is so critical Envirotxt is used for new applications all the time.

Usage Examples

Marine – Boat owners use Envirotxt to alert for shore power loss and potential freezing temperatures to prevent the engine from freezing which can be extremely expensive to replace.

Pharmaceutical – Envirotxt can be used to monitor fridges/freezers so the user receives a text alert when the temperature goes too high and also if there is a power outage. Envirotxt sends the information in real time to prevent stock and financial losses.

Second Homes/Holiday Homes – Envirotxt gives peace of mind for second homes or holiday homes, power loss and temperature is extremely important for unoccupied properties e.g. for fridge/freezers, alarm systems and frozen pipes.

What SIM/network should I use? What are the approximate running costs?

Envirotxt needs a SIM card to operate, we offer M2M (machine to machine SIMs) or you can use an off the shelf PAYG (pay as you go SIM). To look at the SIMs we can offer for our devices, please visit the SIM page in the ‘products and services’ list at the the top of the page. Envirotxt can only communicate by 2G text message and as it’s a mobile network dependent product we recommend you use the mobile network with the strongest signal where you intend to use Envirotxt. As Envirotxt only sends SMS’s (text messages) the running costs are low.

NOTE

1) Any network can be used (except the 3UK Network as they are purely digital, which means 3G and above)

2) If you choose to use a PAYG SIM please ensure you send a command to Envirotxt every few weeks to ensure the SIM stays active

3) None of our devices contain lithium batteries, Envirotxt has a capacitor to store enough energy to send the text alert when mains power is lost
